Causeway Update

Posted 5 Aug 2025, 3:58 p.m.

You may have seen a lot activity recently around the causeway, the raised road access that separates the northern and southern gulley's

We are working on a lot of our footpaths and creating a new link between zones 1 and 2, which will create pedestrian routes from Gulley Street/Kestrel Road, down towards Bovis Homes on zone 2. We are looking to bring this forward early in the development and will only be for pedestrians for a while, to enable us to maintain our approach to not mixing residential and construction traffic where possible.

Gulley / Causeway Works

The footpath link between the northern entrance to the northern gulley, between zone 1 and zone 3 is undergoing improvements and is set to open on Saturday 9th August.

The southern entrance to the northern gulley will soon close as part of the works on the causeway, starting on Monday 11th August. You will still be able to access the northern gulley from the north, but there will be no through route - you will need to turn around and return through the northern entrance.

Kestrel Road will need to close either side of the care home from the week commencing Monday 18th August, due to water connection works. The diversion will be around the district center, and we will continue to update you with when this is due to reopen.

Zone 2 Pathway Works

Over the coming months we will also be working on footpaths to run down the western edge of Zone 2, which will run above the eastern side of the gulley, similar to what we already have on zone 1. This will run around the western edge of the Taylor Wimpey and Bovis parcels, running north to connect up to the causeway.

As part of these works we will also be adding a new stone-based amphitheatre on zone 2 at the bottom of Charlock Drive (near the Bovis show homes), overlooking the lake in the gulley. It will have a gabion basket design, reflecting the old Corby quarry history of the gulley, before it was a Local Wildlife Site. We are also looking to create a new walkway next year called The Lane, which will run north east diagonally from the Village Green, connecting to the new walkways towards the causeway. This will provide a more direct route between zone 1 and the Village Green / Barratts and David Wilson homes.

Southern Gulley Lake Works

You may also have noticed that the lake in the southern gulley is looking low of water. This has been partially drained as part of essential maintenance works to the lake liner, for the long term benefit of the space. This has all been done in accordance with guidance from ecology specialists.

We will look to keep you updated on works across the site via the Priors Hall Park community app.
