Gulley link reopening update
We have now reopened the link between the northern and southern gulley as part of the causeway improvement works.
As a temporary measure you will find a heras fence channel that runs across the causeway between the northern and southern gulley.
As shown in the overhead photo and drawings there is only one entrance/exit from the midpoint of the gulley, with access to central zone 1.
If you are walking from the northern gulley heading south, you must cross the causeway into the southern gulley before being able to exit via the entrance at the town gardens play area.
Zone 2 Pathway Works
We’re still working on the overall causeway project which make a pedestrian connection between zone 1 and zone 2. In the New Year we will install new footpaths to run down the western edge of Zone 2, which will run above the eastern side of the gulley, similar to what we already have on zone 1. This will run around the western edge of the Taylor Wimpey and Bovis parcels, running north to connect up to the causeway.
As part of these works we will also be adding a new stone-based Amphitheatre on zone 2 at the bottom of Charlock Drive (near the Bovis show homes), overlooking the lake in the gulley. It will have a gabion basket design, reflecting the old Corby quarry history of the gulley, before it was a Local Wildlife Site. This will provide a more direct route between zone 1 and the Village Green / Barratts and David Wilson homes.
