Walking routes
Priors Hall Park has a range of walking routes, through fields, woodland and designated wildlife sites, giving you the perfect chance to explore the nature on your doorstep.

There are many different routes to walk around Priors Hall Park, with different types of terrain for different experiences and seasons. This map shows some of the routes available, with a key showing what you can expect from the ground conditions.

Suggested walking routes
We’ve highlighted some of our favourite routes and loops around the development. Some of these routes are made up of natural footways and uneven trails – and are not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. You should expect muddy conditions in adverse weather, so please wear appropriate footwear!
Please keep your dogs on a lead at all times and pick up after them.

The Gulley – 2km
The Corby Old Quarry ‘Gullet’ or Gulley runs through the centre of Priors Hall Park. Awarded Wildlife Site status in recognition of its biodiversity value and quantity of rare habitat types, the pathway passes through almost 2km of grassland before reaching the 8-acre lake in the Southern Gulley. As well as inhabiting varied and even rare wildlife species, our nature reserve is a place to appreciate the wildlife on our doorstep.

Old Quarry Wood Trail – 1.5km
This woodland area was originally planted following the deconstruction of the Old Corby Quarry. It is now a designated Local Wildlife Site and is home to a wide range of tree and plant species and ponds that have formed naturally.

Heritage Trail – 2km
The Monument Way Field on Zone 3 was once the site of what was known as Priors Hall Villa. Recent archaeological excavations have shown it was built by the Romans, with findings such as kilns, tiles and a temple mausoleum highlighting the area’s industrial heritage and Iron Age origins. It has been allocated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument because of its historical importance, meaning it will always be preserved as a protected greenspace like the one you see today.

Zone 1 Full Loop – 4.2km
If you’re looking for a longer walk suitable for pushing a buggy or wheelchair all year round, there are plenty of options through Zone 1. This route takes you through the heart of Priors Hall Park, with views overlooking the gulley, Little Weldon Villa field, and past our district centre, while sticking to pavements and tarmac footpaths.
