Big Garden Birdwatch - Old Quarry Wood Trail
The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is the world's largest garden wildlife survey. This nationwide citizen science survey is completed by hundreds of thousands of people across the country, with an aim to build a picture of how garden birds are faring and give the RSPB a greater picture of how species numbers are changing each year.
This year the event takes place from Friday 23rd January until Sunday 25th January. We will be holding two walks over the weekend:
Friday 23rd - 10am
Old Quarry Wood Trail - Zone 2
Meet at the entrance to the walk on Burdock Street
Saturday 24th - 10am
The Gulley - Zone 1
Meet by the Amphitheatre Noticeboard
Survey sheets will be provided, and then the data for the whole group will be submitted to the RSPB.
Walking boots/wellies will be recommended - these are natural footways and uneven trails, expect muddy conditions through the winter!
Sadly these routes are not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.
If you have binoculars -bring them along! ID guides will be available.
